Raufoss Technology supplies chassis components in forged aluminium to the international automotive industry. The forging process consists of shaping a round topic to become a finished product with complex geometry. This is done using a series of forming steps where the purpose is to move material to where it is needed. With a continuous production of several hundred parts per hour, it is crucial that all steps of the process are optimally designed both in terms of process stability and material utilization.We are looking for an engineer who will drive the design and development of the forging process from concept to fully implemented solution in close cooperation with product developers and industrialization.For the position applies:
Good knowledge of solid mechanics
Good knowledge of aluminum metallurgy
Good knowledge of FEM
Knowledge of Forge simulation software will be an advantage, but training will be provided.
Experience with CAD tools (NX)
Good practical understanding of the possibilities and limitations of industrialization
Good oral and written presentation skills in English (working language).
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Good at organising your own working day and delivering within agreed deadlines
Cooperation and coordination with our units in Canada and China.
Some travel must be expected
Tasks:
Design and development of all stages of the forging process of aluminium chassis components
Preparation of specifications and process description
Assist in testing and commissioning of new products
Qualifications:
MSc or BSc, Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgy
