Under the supervision of the Development Product & Process Manager, the project manager acts as project manager for all phases of product and process development. he is called upon to deal with customers, the divisions of Norway, China, Mexico and VT2i as well as suppliers. Through his multiple responsibilities, the project engineer ensures the reliability of the product as well as the process. He must therefore manage projects in development, continuous improvement projects as well as R&D projects.

A typical day in your daily life:
- Contributes to the definition of the project strategy, scopes, objectives and expected results.
- Leads the planning and implementation of project stages.
- Develops, improves and monitors project work plans.
- Creates and maintains project management tools (schedule, risks, budget, tasks, validation plan and actions, milestone reports (MS-2 to MS-7), etc.).
- Ensures that requirements are met. Supports and directs product and component development activities in accordance with pre-established requirements and customer constraints/milestones.
- Coordinates the manufacturing of prototypes and delivery schedule based on each customer’s requirements.
- Manages and controls product and process development budgets.
- Organizes follow-up meetings to ensure good progress of the project and identifies gaps; provides guidance and support to technical teams (product and process development, prototyping, launch).
- Participates in the implementation of manufacturing processes for new products.
- Ensures validation of control methods (e.g. process parameters) for new products.
- Develops and delivers training sessions on the development of our know-how related to our products and processes.
- Coordinates product validation testing.
- Ensures product and process approval (PPAP).
- Ensures that change requests and corrective actions are completed on time.
- Ensures follow-up of the EOs assigned to him.
The ideal candidate:
- Bachelor degree in engineering (mechanical engineering or metallurgy an asset);
- Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec (mandatory);
- Training or knowledge in materials sciences (an asset);
- 2 years of experience in the automotive field: project; management related to the design of small lightweight products, materials science, production technologies (hot or cold forming and assembly);
- Concrete work experience in this or a similar manufacturing field and in the development of high-speed serial parts;
- Bilingual (French and English). The level of English must be high-intermediate to be able to communicate with differents contacts internationally;
- Autonomy, ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Result orientation, good communication and ease of working in a team;
- Excellent leadership, problem solving (6-sigma approach an asset) and team motivation skills;
- Ability to work to a tight schedule;
- Skills in negotiation, decision-making and delegation of tasks;
- Knowledge of ISO standards and its applications (an asset);
- Ability to understand mechanical and process issues in order to manage both theoretical and practical aspects of the project;
- Availability to travel (Norway, China, Mexico, United States, Germany, other) if required.
