The tooling process engineer is responsible for managing the processes and tooling equipment related to the manufacturing of aluminum suspension arms for a cold forming process and a hot forging process. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining the tooling equipment related to the manufacturing of suspension arms. He works with the tooling, product and process, and project management teams and supports the team of tooling technicians to ensure the integration and adaptation of processes in accordance with company standards. He is called upon to deal with all departments of the company, suppliers and subcontractors as well as with other sites of the group internationally. He also participates in special team projects. He is called upon to deal with all departments of the company and machining suppliers.

RESPONSABILITIES:
- Manages new tool implementation projects.
- Responsible for the production tool management process (SOP 6.2) and ensuring compliance and adherence in daily activities.
- Responsible for the tooling manufacturing process (SOP 5.2).
- Represents the tooling department at management meetings (SST, DMM, Daily Production Meeting).
- Leads the biweekly tooling team meeting.
- Manages talent development and ensures team performance management.
TECHNICAL PROCESS MANAGEMENT:
- Designs, corrects, and implements new tooling for new products.
- Establishes standards and ensures compliance with standards for the construction of new tools.
- Designs, modifies, and integrates tooling to improve efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs.
- Analyzes forging or cold forming issues and makes the necessary corrections based on both the process and the tooling.
- Supports the tooling maintenance team in the repair/maintenance and improvement of forging and extruform (cold forming) tools.
- Supports the team with the implementation of forging and cold forming processes.
- Supports production in the development of new tools and continuous improvement.
- Participates in troubleshooting tooling processes.
- Participates in resolving health and safety issues and implementing solutions.
- Provides support for issues encountered during the forging and forming of aluminum components and assemblies.
- Participates in planning tool changes (SMED) in conjunction with production/maintenance.
- Ensures process and dimensional compliance of manufactured parts.
- Implements new tooling projects and process improvement projects.
TOOLING MANAGEMENT
- Supports the tooling maintenance team by updating checklists: Tooling inspection (pre/post production), tooling SMED, etc.
- Participates in the design and manufacturing of tools.
- Analyzes and performs tool redesign and adaptations.
- Supports tooling budget management.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec, an asset
- AEC/DEC in mechanical engineering (an asset)
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant experience
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in production, design, and mechanical engineering
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes and forming
- Experience in tool maintenance and /or machining
- Experience managing technical staff as an inspiring leader
Who you are:
- Good basic knowledge of materials and their transformations: aluminum process is an asset.
- Familiarity with drawing standards, dimensional and geometric tolerances (GD & T).
- Knowledge of CAD (Unigraphics, Catia, etc.)
- Excellent 3D graphic and spatial visualization
- Familiar with FEA analysis application
- Good French (oral and written)
- English – intermediate/advanced level (oral and written) for travels and exchanges with colleagues and suppliers in others countries
- Analytical, creative, autonomous, motivated, and possesses a strong sense of responsibilities
- Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines in the dynamic automotive industry
